2021 Colour Trends

/ / Uncategorised

After a decade of dominating homeware trends, grey is on the way out.

Perhaps it’s the impact of the doom and gloom most of us have experienced this year in some form, but in 2021 we look forward to warmer, burnt orange and terracotta alongside soothing, earthy tones replacing the cool greys we have seen everywhere since circa 2010.

A great way to introduce these colour trends into your home and add some character is through your soft furnishings such as curtains, blinds & cushions. A splash of bold colour against neutral walls and décor to warm the room up or a detailed pattern in a more subdued and natural colour palette can definitely pull a room together.

Pantone Colour Institute are known for pioneering colour trends and they have named their colour of the year 2021 as “A.I. Aqua” after the “Classic Blue” they promoted this year which will be a great compliment to earthy colours or terracotta.

Brass curtain rail and accessories

Hallis Hudson – Ashbridge accessories offered as a finishing touch to our made to measure curtains

Aside from solid colours which suit soft furnishings we also consider the accent colours seen, for example, in curtain rails. After rose gold finishes flooding the shelves for the past few years, it’s predicted that accessories will take a more traditional approach and we will see a lot more matte golds and coppers. A matte gold or copper curtain rail, such as our stockist Hallis Hudson’s Ashbridge collection, could be the perfect finishing touch to your new terracotta or aqua curtains, giving your room a hint of sophistication.
